Late summer, the plants have already done all their work. They have produced seeds and scattered them to find new places to grow.
Many plants will die now. But trees and other longer-lived plants prepare for winter. Have lost their leaves. The ground turns cold and hard. Soon there will be no more water for the roots. Once again, they must sleep until spring returns.
Animals too prepare for winter. Many birds and insects have gone to warmer places. Many of the animals that do not change places have already gone to sleep.
The land that was green turns brown. In a few weeks the snow will begin to fall. The landscape will be white.
It's the night of the flowers…
